The Ulytau Mountains are located in the very center of Kazakhstan and are considered a sacred place for Kazakhs. Centuries ago, khans were “crowned” here. The mausoleum of Zhoshy Khan, as well as other architectural monuments dating back to the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods, are also located here.

Archaeologists have discovered ancient settlements and their tools, as well as the largest workshop. Historians have yet to unravel the mystery of the “mound with whiskers.” Some believe they are burial mounds, observatories, or ritual complexes. Excavations indicate that metallurgical work was conducted here 3,000 years ago, and goods were exported to Iran, Greece, and India.

Ulytau is known as the “land of springs and lakes.” Indeed, the local waters have healing properties.
