Over the centuries of its existence, Ulytau, the true gem of Saryarka and the steppe, has gathered majestic burial mounds, necropolises, and mausoleums of the Begazy-Dandybayev culture, as well as numerous other ancient monuments, opening a window into the rich history of Kazakhstan.
These archaeological finds, including rock paintings, petroglyphs, mines, and metallurgical furnaces, testify to Ulytau being an ancient center of Saryarka and the entire steppe.
In Ulytau, you can find the mausoleums of Zhoshy Khan and Alash Khan, the burial place of the Golden Horde Khan Tokhtamysh, and the monument to the great military leader of the Horde nomads, Emir Edige. The Altynshoky Rock preserves echoes of the great Tamerlane and his visit in the spring of 1391.
