The zoo in Tashkent was established in 1924 as a small area for animals, adjacent to the art museum and located on the territory of the country residence of the governor-general of Turkestan. Initially, the zoo occupied a small space, only about 3 hectares of land. However, by the 1940s, it had significantly expanded and became home to more than 200 species of animals.

Currently, it is home to 58 species of mammals, 74 species of birds, 25 species of amphibians and reptiles, as well as 191 species of fish. Collaboration with 46 zoos from different countries allows for the exchange of representatives of fauna and valuable scientific information. It is important to note that the Tashkent Zoo has played a significant role in the development of several Central Asian zoos, such as the Ashgabat Zoo, Termez Zoo, Dushanbe Zoo, and the zoo in Almaty.

In addition to outdoor enclosures, the zoo also has indoor facilities where monkeys, lemurs, reptiles, and fish reside.
The tourist company “DWC” is pleased to offer you an exciting journey to this interesting place.
