As early as the beginning of the 12th century, the ruler Arslan-Khan ordered the reconstruction of the minaret of the old cathedral mosque. Unfortunately, after the completion of the work, the minaret collapsed, losing two-thirds of its height. However, despite the setback, Arslan-Khan insisted on rebuilding the minaret, as evidenced by the inscription on the turquoise majolica decorating the cornice of this magnificent structure. It is thanks to this inscription that we know that the construction of the Kalan Minaret was completed in 1127. The diameter of the minaret at the base is 9 meters, tapering to 6 meters at the top, and its total height reaches an impressive 45.6 meters. Inside the minaret, there is a spiral staircase inviting you to an exciting ascent to the top, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire city.
