The Museum of Antiquities of Tajikistan traces its roots back to the distant year of 1934 when it was organized based on unique archaeological finds first presented at the Exhibition of National Economic Achievements. At that time, the collection comprised an impressive 530 exhibits.

Today, the Museum of Antiquities of Tajikistan occupies an impressive two-story building nestled in the center of Dushanbe. Its rich collection features artifacts gathered from across Tajikistan.

One of the most valuable and captivating exhibits that attracts visitors from around the world is the statue of Buddha in Nirvana state. This sculpture lies on its right side and was discovered in the 1960s during excavations at the Adzhina-Tepe settlement. It measures nearly 13 meters in length and weighs over 5.5 tons. This artifact is now the museum’s main treasure and one of the most magnificent monuments of Buddhism in the world. We invite you to explore this wealth of Tajikistan’s cultural heritage with the DWC tour company.
