In the picturesque center of Bukhara, towering above the neighboring buildings, rise two magnificent blue domes of the Miri-Arab Madrasah. Together with the famous Kalan Mosque and the splendid minaret, this religious educational institution creates a unique architectural complex Po-i-Kalyan, which has become the true spiritual center of the city.

The origin of the Miri-Arab Madrasah dates back to the 16th century, and its construction is attributed to Sheikh Abdullah Yamani from Yemen, who was the spiritual mentor of the Shaybanids. The exact dates of the start of construction remain a mystery to this day. According to one version, scholars believe that the work was carried out in the period from 1530 to 1535/1536. The Miri-Arab Madrasah takes pride in its status as one of the most interesting historical monuments of Bukhara and continues to serve as an active educational institution where future imams and religious mentors are trained.

The Miri-Arab Madrasah became a unique spiritual educational institution in the USSR that continued its activities after the Second World War. You can visit this amazing place with the tourist company DWC.
