Lake Ay-Kel is situated on the northern slope of the Turkestan Range and translates to “moon lake.” To behold this natural wonder spanning an area of 0.82 hectares, one must embark on a long journey and ascend to an altitude of 3000 meters.
The shores of the lake are dominated by sheer cliffs, making it difficult to approach closely. Therefore, one must admire the lake from a distance. The lake is fed by two streams – in summer, the water level rises, while in winter, it freezes over.
Ay-Kel is a true treasure of Kyrgyzstan, hidden high in the mountains. It’s inaccessible, beautiful, and breathtaking. DWC company organizes jeep tours not only throughout Kyrgyzstan but also in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
