The tourist company DWC offers you an exciting journey to colorful historical memories – the Fortress of Kyzyl-Kala, which translates as “red fortress.” This unique fortress is located near Toprak-Kala, on the plain just 27 km north of the city of Biruni.
The discoverers of this remarkable monument were the employees of the Khorezm Archaeological and Ethnographic Expedition in 1938. The area of the Kyzyl-Kala Fortress is 65 by 63 meters.
It is believed that this fortress was built as a defensive structure and was part of the system of Khorezm fortifications, which served to defend the northeastern border of ancient Khorezm. The thickness of the walls, reaching 8 meters, made them impenetrable even against enemy attacks using siege weapons.
According to local legends, there are extensive underground passages inside the fortress, where, according to tradition, evil spirits of the desert dwell, and the souls of ancestors roam among the secret paths. And they say that untold riches are hidden here. DWC organizes jeep tours not only throughout Kyrgyzstan but also in Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
