The ancient city of Koshoy-Korgon is located 12 km away from the village of At-Bashi. This is a historically significant monument, which in the 7th-10th centuries served as a fortress for Turkic rulers. The literal translation sounds like “Koshoy’s fortress,” in honor of one of the companions of the great Manas. There is also a legend that Koshoy himself built this fortress.
The fortress was built of clay. Nowadays, there is a museum functioning there, the exposition of which is divided into two parts. Here are collected the findings of archaeologists from the ancient city and the Naryn region as a whole. Tools, household items, and military armor can tell us about the life of the ancient Kyrgyz people.
We invite you to visit the ancient city of Koshoy-Korgon with the tour company DWC.
