Kel-Suu is a high-altitude lake in the Naryn region, formed by a glacier. It’s a stunningly beautiful body of water with magnificent views. The vivid blue water, framed by rugged cliffs, creates a breathtaking contrast. It’s a fairly remote area, one of the most challenging routes in Kyrgyzstan.
Kel-Suu is a landslide-type lake located in a crevice between the rocks. To see it in its entirety, you need to take a boat trip on it. The dimensions of the lake are 9 by 2 km.
Its name, “transient water,” is not just for show. At times, the water completely disappears, flowing into caves. During the absence of the lake, you can admire truly otherworldly rocky landscapes.
Getting to the lake is possible only with a professional guide and driver. The route passes through marshy areas of the Ak-Sai Valley, high-altitude pastures, rivers, and glaciers.
The lake is in a border area, requiring a border pass.
We invite you to visit Kel-Suu with the tour company DWC.
