The Karakol Gorge is located to the east of the Terskey Ala-Too Range, south of Lake Issyk-Kul. It is one of the popular destinations for tourists, and reaching it is relatively easy. This area holds the status of a nature reserve and stretches for more than 40 km. The Karakol Gorge is a unique hub of various routes for tourists and mountaineers. In the summer, there is an alpine camp where one can embark on ascents to peaks such as Przhevalsky, Telman, Gastello, Dimitrov, Zhukov, as well as Djigit and Karakol. The road also leads to the mountain lake Ala-Kul, Altyn-Arashan Gorge, and Jeti-Oguz.
The views here are simply breathtaking. Wild barberry and rosehip thickets, relic spruce forests, high-mountain alpine meadows with colorful flowers, leave no one indifferent. In the lower part of the gorge, there is the Karakol Base, well-known among skiing enthusiasts.
