The Holy Trinity Orthodox Church is located in the center of the city of Karakol and has existed since the founding of the city. The initiative to create the religious building came from the city’s founder, A.V. Kulbars.

Initially, it was made of felt, but within a year, it acquired wooden walls, and later, brick walls. In 1887, the church was destroyed by an earthquake. In 1895, it was rebuilt with wooden logs. Subsequently, there were a series of misfortunes – the church was sometimes used for a sports school and then returned to the believers. As a result, valuable icons and other religious attributes were irretrievably lost.

Only in 1992, the parishioners regained the building, which was in terrible condition. The restoration was carried out by all the city residents. Today, among other things, the miraculous icon of the Tikhvin Icon of the Mother of God is located here, which miraculously managed to be preserved for many years.
