Its size is only 600 by 1000 meters, and due to the high salt content in the lake, only bacteria can thrive.
The lake appeared during a period when the level of Issyk-Kul was much higher than it is currently. The water covered a much larger area, and mini-lakes formed in the surrounding water bodies. Kara-Kul is connected to Lake Issyk-Kul through an isolated underground channel that replenishes the water supply of the Dead Lake.
Due to the high concentration of salts, the Dead Lake has healing properties, specifically 70% or 132 grams per liter. Here, one can find relief from various illnesses, including gynecological, dermatological, and neurological conditions. Applications of therapeutic mud, abundant in the area, are also beneficial.
We invite you to visit Dead Lake Kara-Kul with the tour company DWC.
