In the heart of the Chui Valley lies the Chon-Kemin National Park, situated at an altitude of 1400-2800 meters above sea level. This unique place is home to rare animals, birds, plants, and insects listed in the Red Book.
Especially valuable mammals inhabit this area, such as the snow leopard, Turkestan lynx, Tian Shan bear, maral, and argali. Among the birds are the saker falcon, golden eagle, and bearded vulture.
Additionally, 6 species of plants and 5 insects are under special protection.
The national park was established in 1997, and currently, its territory covers over 12 hectares, resembling an oasis of wild nature not far from the capital.
The Chon-Kemin River flows through the entire park, merging with the Chu River. This natural border stretches for 116 kilometers between Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan and is excellent for rafting.
