The DWC travel company invites you on an exciting journey into the history and culture of Kyrgyzstan.
The Burana Tower is part of a complex of historical monuments located near the city of Tokmok, just 80 kilometers east of Bishkek. This unique minaret was built in the 11th century in the medieval city of Balasagun, which was the capital of the prosperous Karakhanid state. At one time, there was a mosque next to the minaret, and the Burana Tower was used to call the faithful to prayer.
The height of the tower is impressive, about 25 meters, although in the Middle Ages it reached over 40 meters. It is believed that part of the tower was destroyed by an earthquake in the 15th century. Along the perimeter of the museum complex, you can see ancient Turkic stone sculptures that will tell you their own history.
A visit to this remarkable architectural complex with the DWC travel company will be a true journey through time and will help you understand the richness of Kyrgyzstan’s history and culture.
