The Boom Gorge is located 112 km from Bishkek along the Issyk-Kul highway. It is the sole transportation corridor between the capital and the lake, traversing the eastern part of the Kyrgyz Range.

The word “Boom” translates literally as “evil spirit.” This is because the passage was difficult and perilous. Semenov-Tian-Shansky spent 21 days overcoming the 22 km gorge. It was only after more than 20 years that a road was constructed in 1871.

Today, it is a place where one can relax, have a snack, and engage in activities such as river rafting – an ideal spot for rafting, trekking, and camping.

Additionally, a railway passes through Boom, with the first train traversing it in 1948.

Our company can organize jeep tours to the most interesting places in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
