We invite you to an exhilarating journey with the tourist company “DWC” and jeep rental in Bishkek. Our next destination is the stunning Bibi-Khanym Mosque in Samarkand, majestically towering from the hill of Afrasiab and captivating with its grandeur.
The magnificent construction of the mosque began on May 4, 1399, by the order of the ruler himself. The most talented craftsmen and artisans of that time were involved in the work. 200 stonemasons from different countries were employed in the construction, and another 500 people worked in the mountains, processing and delivering the stone to Samarkand. Thanks to the efforts of all the craftsmen, the mosque was built in an incredibly short time – just five years. However, Amir Timur was dissatisfied with the construction, and in anger, he ordered the arrest of the nobles who oversaw the construction – Hodja Mahmud David and Muhammad Diselda.
The name “Bibi-Khanym” translates literally as “senior princess” or “senior wife.” This Friday mosque was a place where thousands of Muslim men gathered to perform the prayer, a mysterious ritual.
Our company can organize jeep tours to the most interesting places in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
