Altyn Arashan or the Golden Spring is a high-mountain gorge near the city of Karakol, in the eastern part of the Terskey-Ala-Too range. This is one of the favorite places among tourists – it has very beautiful nature, hot springs, and thick spruce forests.
The territory of the gorge has been a nature reserve since 1963 and continues to be one to this day. Here is a relic forest of Tien Shan spruce, as well as hot springs with a high content of radon and hydrogen sulfide. They maintain the same temperature throughout the year.
A road to the high-mountain lake Ala-Kul, located at an altitude of 3800 meters, passes through this gorge. Also located here is the Aksu Wall or Peak Palatka. The name is given because of its unusual shape resembling a tourist tent in the form of a trapezoid.
Altyn Arashan is the concentration of many tourist routes. From here you can reach Ala-Kul, Ak-Suu gorge, Karakol valley, Jeti-Oguz.
