Barakoon Gorge or Barskaun is one of the most picturesque gorges on the southern coast of Issyk-Kul. It is home to several high waterfalls and dense spruce forests. The gorge stretches for 30 km into the Terskey-Ala-Too mountains to the Arabell Plateau. There is a high-quality road here, making it accessible by car or motorcycle.

Barskaun attracts tourists with its natural beauty and cultural attractions. The waterfall cascade includes the Tears of Bars, the Cup of Manas, the Beard of Ak-Sakal, and the Sprays of Champagne. The Tagay-Biya shrine, one of the founders of Kyrgyz statehood, is also located here. There are also several monuments to the first cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, who often visited these places.
